Nimbella
She's Always Under the Weather

If overcast skies and showers were forecast then you'd be seeing a lot of Nimbella. With her Dame Edna-esque glasses and resemblance to Mrs Merton, Nimbella was certainly an interesting character.
The name "Nimbella" is a portmanteau of the word "nimbus"- the Latin name for a rain cloud, and Bella - a woman's name.
I did a bit of research and found out that the "nimbus" also means "A cloudy radiance said to surround a classical deity when on earth."
Hmm...well Nimbella is always surrounded by rainclouds.
She was played by New Zealand born model Angela Dunn, now Angela Radcliffe.

For the role of Nimbella, Angela had to wear a huge raincloud wig that was made of horse hair and glasses with long glass "water droplets." Two versions of her ident were made - normal and storm version.
Today, Angela lives in London and works as a personal shopper. She's still busy modelling too. She runs a blog for London based store Donna Ida, featuring all that is chic and new in the world of fashion. Visit it here.
Update! May 2011- Angela got in touch with me and shared her memories of playing Nimbella. I'm so pleased she enjoyed her role and she is so nice to talk to! I was happy to send her copies of the WeatherGens books for her 8 year old son to enjoy. Angela is also good friends with Kate McGurgan, who played Brellina!

In my books she brings miserable wet weather all year round, along with thunderstorms, particularly in summer. She stores lightning in her hair which gives her headaches from time to time. Nimbella's personality could be described as a bit emo - she is easily upset and pessimistic about things, but don't worry it's just how she is. She's also very short-sighted and can't see a thing without her glasses. Her best friend is Brellina.
