Helios

The Morning Mist WeatherGen

Helios, one of the rarer WeatherGens, represented morning mist/sunny misty days, and was played by actor/model/writer Rodney Charles (below).

Talented Rodney has worked on many different projects - visit his website to view his vast portfolio.

Also Rodney is on Facebook...

Filming for Helios had Rodney's face painted in bright gold paint, whilst a small diorama of a valley with trees was constructed.  In this, Helios can be seen covering the hillside with mist and has the morning sun shining behind him in the finished ident.

Some fans have got in touch to say that the sequins/pattern on Helios' face are similar to those seen on the Na'vi in Avatar...I wonder if James Cameron was inspired by the WeatherGens?  We shall never know!

In Greek Mythology, Helios was the personification of the sun, and was imagined as a handsome god who drove the chariot of the sun across the sky each day.  His Roman equivalent was the god Sol Invictus.

In my books, Helios' powers are strongest during early morning and evening, which is when he likes to create mist.  He is a very calm and laid back WeatherGen who never worries about anything.  In contrast to Mirka, who prefers the night, Helios is very much a day person, bringing a little mist here and there to soften things.
