Crystella
The Graceful Snow Queen
Whenever snow was expected, you'd be seeing Crystella as the featured WeatherGen ident. She was played by Canadian born actress Abigail Canton.
Abigail (below) was already familiar to UK viewers after starring as a lady with acrobatic eyeballs in a rather odd Ford Fiesta commercial from the 1990s.
Her snowflake costume was the most difficult. Carolyn and Harvey started off making armatures of fibreglass, then covered them with layers of Sellotape, which was very easy to work with and made a firm under-structure, then they added the decoration on top.
For Crystella, Abigail had fabulous fingernails with flowers glued on them and false eyelashes with little diamonds on the end of each lash that the make-up artist had made himself. Computer graphics were also involved in Crystella's ident - at the end sequence where she is replicated in dozens of falling snowflakes.
All this combined to make Crystella's ident one of the most magical of the 12 WeatherGens.

In my books Crystella's powers are strongest during December, when she brings snow for Christmas. She is a very shy, gentle and reserved WeatherGen with a beautiful singing voice. Snowflakes are said to fall when she starts to sing a haunting song in winter. She is also the love interest of Frice, who was captivated by her singing. Crystella is said to be the prettiest of the WeatherGens too, but she often plays this down, preferring to stay out of the limelight. Her self-esteem was lacking a little at first, until Frice was gradually able to build up her confidence. It takes a lot to get Crystella angry but she can unleash some powerful blizzards on rare occasions!
