The WeatherGens Books

In January 1997, when the WeatherGens had just started, I was inspired to write a story about them.  I believed that the characters would make excellent subject matter for a fantasy adventure.  I was only 14 at the time so the story was little more than a few badly composed paragraphs!  I did post it to Powergen at the time and unsurprisingly, did not receive any reply!

Time went by and I forgot the WeatherGens, and in the meantime I became a published author/cartoonist, writing many different books.  Then in 2009, after befriending Carolyn Corben via YouTube and being persuaded to re-write my story, I finally sat down and began to write a proper book...

In February 2010, after gaining permission from E.ON, the current rights holders of the idents, I self-published the book via Lulu, designed the cover, purchased an ISBN for the book which allowed it to be sold on Amazon and other book sites, and promoted it via YouTube, Facebook and my own website, Merdog Productions.

This is the only book I have written not to feature characters of my own creation; written purely for fun because I loved the characters so much and thought they deserved their own story.  Essentially this book is a fanfiction that grew into a full-time project and eventually a published book - and more!

The book, whilst primarily aimed at children, is more likely to be read by the original fans of the WeatherGens.  I developed a complex backstory for each of the 12 'Gens, along with a few new characters.  The book focuses on a sinister weather company and the birth of an evil thirteenth WeatherGen known as Deimos.

Brellina's Magic Umbrella

I then produced a second book, because the 'Gens are too awesome just to have one book.  This second one is called Brellina's Magic Umbrella which is aimed at younger readers and is fully illustrated.  This book contains three short stories.

Both books have ISBN numbers and are available in paperback, hardback and e-book format for Kindle/e-Reader users.  I am working hard to promote them as much as possible, both online and by visiting bookstores and libraries in my local area.  They are available direct from the Lulu website and also on Amazon.

My ultimate wish would be to see one of them developed into an animated series.  I think the WeatherGens would make a fantastic show.  Maybe one day!
